Food Processing Wastewater Treatment
Industry Background
Sludge generated from food processing plants typically contains high levels of organic matter, oils, and starches. It is viscous, adhesive, and requires strict hygiene and safety compliance during treatment. Traditional dewatering equipment often struggles with poor cake formation, rapid filter cloth fouling, and the need for food-grade and explosion-proof configurations. Selecting equipment that meets both hygiene standards and high operational stability is essential for ensuring reliable plant performance and compliant discharge.
Technical Approach
To address these challenges, Haibar supplied a food-grade, explosion-proof belt filter press for this facility. All sludge-contacting components are made with food-grade materials, featuring corrosion-resistant and easy-to-clean structural design. The machine combines multi-stage gravity thickening with progressive pressure dewatering, enabling viscous sludge to gradually form a stable cake layer with ideal thickness and solids content.
The system is equipped with explosion-proof motors, an EX-rated control cabinet, and a fully enclosed cleaning spray system, ensuring reliable long-term operation in areas with strict safety requirements while reducing maintenance demands.
On-site Photos
The photos were taken at the wastewater treatment station of a food processing plant in Henan. The Haibar food-grade, explosion-proof belt filter press shown in the image was delivered in 2023 and has been operating reliably ever since. It is used for sludge containing a high proportion of grease and starch generated from food processing. The unit remains in excellent working condition, with key components - such as the automatic tensioning and tracking systems - running smoothly to ensure stable performance under long-term loading. Since commissioning, the system has reduced downstream transport and disposal costs while improving overall sludge-handling efficiency and operational safety.
